With all the upheaval and cultural insanity going on, it is common to hear Christians remarking on the signs of the end times, as set out in the New Testament in Mark, Chapter 13.  Secular society mocks believers for trusting what we read. They lump us all together with the suicidal cultists and survivalists as gullible and/or deranged. It is hard to stand up against this ridicule. No one likes to be dismissed as foolish in the world’s eyes, but this is all part of God’s plan. We may not understand why, but it serves His purpose.

bibleJesus told his disciples, “When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen…” (Mark 13:5)  He goes on to describe the turmoil and suffering to come, but reassures us of God’s protection, saying,  “…he will send his angels to gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.” Still, we are warned to be on guard and alert, for we will be tempted to fall in with the scoffers or succumb to our fears.

These events must happen…but we don’t need to flee to bunkers or look for spaceships to carry us off. We must simply trust in God’s goodness and remain faithful; guarding our own witness and staying alert to temptations.

The time is coming when all the world’s trivia will become meaningless and only our relationship with the Lord will matter. Now is the time for Christians to stand together and strengthen one another for the days to come.
