A Closer Walk

Walking along the river path this morning, I was praying softly aloud and recognized the same words I’d spoken to the Lord almost every prayer time for many days. Suddenly, it was as though I heard a voice saying, “I’ve heard you, already. Now can I get a word in edgewise?”

I tried to quiet my mind and listen to Him, but  the water flowing by and the birds twittering in the trees distracted me. In order to keep random thoughts from filling my mental ears I began to hum a favorite old hymn, “Just a Closer Walk with Thee,” hoping this background music would keep me focused and alert to God’s whisper.

Imagine my surprise to hear the Lord speak to me through theseadamandmichele precious words and music.  He reminded me of His constant availability, His strength and love.

Until the day He guides me gently, safely o’er to His Kingdom’s shore, I only need to lean on Him, because His hand is ever outstretched to take a closer walk with me.

It’s just so encouraging to hear someone say how they have encountered God’s voice speaking to them personally. Thank you. Do you have any blogs about specifically how you “lean on Him”.

    • Most of my posts since beginning this blog have been about my struggle to walk in God’s power, leaning on His power and trusting Him to be there. It is an on-going challenge for me to let go, but the times when I let myself fall into His arms are complete joy. He never lets me down. Even so, faith for me is the easy part; trust is hard.
