If you pay attention to the current news, whether on the liberal main stream media or through a variety of social media and Internet sites, you must have picked up on the current tendency to focus on discord and disagreement.  One side says the sky is blue, so some other group says, “No! It’s more gray than blue,” and launches another Twitter campaign to excoriate the Blue Sky supporters.

There’s a lovely old song with these words:

You’ve got to accentuate the positive
Eliminate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don’t mess with Mister In-Between

You’ve got to spread joy up to the maximum
Bring gloom down to the minimum
Have faith or pandemonium (is)
Liable to walk upon the scene

Too many of us fill the role of Mister In-Between, standing on the sidelines and allowing the people spouting negativity to rule the day.

If our society wants to bring gloom down to the minimum, the prescription is to have faith.

Pandemonium has made its appearance, but we mustn’t give it center stage.

There must be a moral code upon which we can all agree. In this country it was the Judea-Christian ethics of the Bible. We can spread joy up to the maximum by supporting and agreeing on these traditional truths.

Right?
