Can you walk wet?

I call this blog, “Power Walking with Jonna,” because I see my life as a faith journey. Every day I’m trying to walk just a little closer to Christ.

This week I stumbled across the walkwet.com website, part of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) ministry.

This is a new campaign twalk weto encourage Christians to continue their faith walk with the same passion as when they first emerged from their baptismal waters; in effect, walking wet for all the rest of the journey.

Those who are signing on to do this are referred to as passionaries: missionaries in their own spheres of influence, carrying personal baptismal passion with them wherever they happen to be.

The program caught my imagination with its symbolism and I clicked on the link to Make Some Waves and joined up.

As passionaries we are to ask ourselves three questions every day:

  • How shall I follow Jesus today?
  • How can I demonstrate Jesus’ love and justice today?
  • How can I play my part in practicing the presence of Christ, right here, right now?

I confess to getting a little spiritually dry, now and then. It is my earnest hope to become an authentically “wet” passionary in my daily walk from this point forward.

What sort of footprints are you leaving?
