Occupy

Driving through town this morning I saw a large sign with just the one word, “Occupy”.  I suppose it was referring to the anti-capitalism demonstrations taking place around the world recently.

Regardless of how you feel about the politics of the participants, you must admit that their tactic is getting them the focused attention they so obviously seek. Their encampments are noisy, smelly and in the way of daily life. They cannot be ignored.

That made me think about the upsetting things that I allow to crowd in and occupy my thoughts.

Perhaps when disruptive, unruly, rebellious thoughts put up their tents in my consciousness, I should sweep them up, give them a shake and sort out the legitimate concerns from the destructive emotions, before they riot and destroy my peace of mind. Then I can take the time to calmly consider the important issues and either resolve the problems or take them to the Divine Arbitrator for resolution.

How much more blessed is the life preoccupied by Christ.
