What a shame it is that our physical condition can’t always keep pace with our emotions.  In spite of being nearly delirious with happiness at being with my son and his family (including my two precious granddaughters) there were times when jet lag, the disruption to my usual routine and simple exhaustion nearly obliterated my joy. In the first days of my visit I had to fight against feelings of alienation due to the language barrier, as well.

When, on our next to last day at the resort, I sat on the beach and wished we had more days to spend in that delightful spot, I realized that I was becoming acclimated to my new circumstances in a way that, only a few days before, I thought could never happen.

The surprise announcement that another grand-bambino will be arriving in February means that I will definitely need to  continue my Italian language lessons and should  start a dedicated travel savings account, as well, in order to make these oh-so-arduous, yet oh-so-worthwhile visits more often in the future.

We read in the Bible that God is a spirit, not hindered by the limitations of time and space, and that in Heaven we will move beyond these bounds, as well.

How delightful to think of an eternity with no jet lag, no language barriers and where our loved ones will always be near. That will truly be Heaven to me.
